Requirements

Proof of basic knowledge:
- Be a licensed contractor
- OR have performed a minimum of 400 home inspections
- OR be a member of ASHI
- OR be a member of CREIA
- OR be a member of InterNACHI
- OR be a member of NAHI
- OR have passed the free test available at http://exams.nachi.org/oe
Reliable transportation and be willingness to drive to inspections throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
Own inspection tools. Most tools are available for loan during your first month.
- Tool belt
- Flashlight
- Binoculars
- Outlet tester
- GFCI tester
- Foldering ladder (12 ft minimum and OSHA-approved)
- IR thermometer (vent & oven temperature check)
- Screwdriver (non-conductive with interchangeable bit)
- Circuit analyzer
- Water pressure gauge
- 1/4 nut driver
- Half mask
- Digital camera
- Small towel and hand sanitizer
- Amprobe
- Coveralls (for going under dwellings)
- Non-slip or non-skid shoes
- Disposable gloves
